PWR TV Debate: WWE "Big Stars" vs WWE Attractions

PWR TV Debate: WWE "Big Stars" vs WWE Attractions

As Always what is written below is my opinion as a wrestling fan. Im not a "Wrestling Expert" and nor to I claim to be one. Simply giving my opinion as a fan and as I see it :)

Enjoy and Read on......

I was watching Pro Wrestling Report primetime as I do Every Sunday and this week Dameon Nelson and David Herro went In Depth on WWE change of Direction from "Internet Darlings to Big Stars"
Dameon Nelson Explained that for the purpose of this debate the size of the wrestler is not what we are talking about here but the perception of the wrestler and how that translates across ALL different sections of the audience not just the Hardcore Wrestling fan base. Also that this is not about Wrestling in ring Talent either, We all know as Hardcore fans that Ziggler, Punk and Bryan are 3 of the best in ring performers today but that isn't making casual fans press the buy button for PPVs.

You can watch the show by clicking the play button on the video above

Dameon and David Herro Discussed about John Cena and how he commands attention when he walks in a room and that people not just wrestling fans are in ore of him when they see him and even though might not know Cena is a wrestler will know that "he is somebody"

Maybe CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are not on that level in terms of  recognisability to a wider audience but in their defence I must say this, If Punk, Bryan, Ziggler aren't the answer who is? WWE has gone back to using "Big Time Established Stars" for the PPV events especially recently with the use of The Big Show.

The argument is that Big Show is someone who casual fans will want to see more in a big main event match and will therefore outdraw someone that, The Internet and hardcore fans call "awesome". After being at a WWE House Show in Cardiff Wales This Month and hearing the sell out crowd chanting "Daniel Bryan" nearly throughout the whole match between Orton and Big Show and Show having to apologise at the end of the match for Bryan not being there, it seems the crowd want something different. A lot of feedback from that show and many of the WWE Live Events that Daniel Bryan was not in attendance for, fans were unhappy.

Fans that turn out for Live events, make WWE money and are a huge part of the lifeblood of WWE is their two philosophy's at play here? Is there a battle between the two ideas, fans at live events saying one thing and WWE Executives saying another?

WWE has themselves to blame for this situation as much as anyone, WWE couldn't and didn't build any new generation stars behind John Cena and with big stars like The Rock, Batista, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho whether retiring or leaving WWE did not do enough in my opinion to build investable characters, especially investable good guys behind John Cena. WWE has an abundance of Bad Guys, but not so many "Good Guy" characters.

Right now WWE is getting less ratings on Raw than When WCW was doing 3 Hours of Nitro......This is a wider issue one "big Man" in a main event is going to change WWE Fortunes. WWE needs to look at the wider issues and making Wrestling or "Sports Entertainment" Characters that resonate with the audience of 2013 and beyond  is the key for me, Developing Investable resonating Characters Creates Interest, Interest Creates Intrigue and Intrigue makes people put down cash to watch a PPV........

WWE Live Results Cardiff 10th November 2013

WWE Live Results Cardiff 10th November 2013

I'm writing this just after getting home from the show. Felt we saw a good show tonight, before the show Justin Roberts comes out to the ring and states that tonight there will be a fans choice match after intermission of the show and it will be fandango vs Santino and fans could choose between a dance off or normal match. Justin then started the show and gave us our first match

Match 1

The Real Americans vs Los Matadores

The real Americans come out to the ring and are accompanied by Zeb Colter. Lots of cheers for Zeb and Zeb was pure gold on the mic, the started off by saying 'im so happy to be back in Scotland' and then once he got the country right stating that the women of Wales were 'too big'. Los Matadores come out and the match begins. This was a great opening match, a nice spot where Los Matadores use the don't tread on me flags against swagger and Cesaro and make them run like bulls to get the flags back. Cesaro got the big swing in and rotated 15 times with the crowd counting along. Los Matadores win the match with double team Samoan drop

Winner - Los Matadores

Match 2

Zack Ryder vs Wade Barrett

Wade Barrett comes out and cuts a promo on how the welsh haven't qualified for the World Cup in 2014 and how they should all support England, Barrett takes off his shirt and has an England football team too underneath, which the crowd boo heavily (although I cheered as I'm English!!!) short match between Wade and Zack, Barrett wins the match by hitting the bull hammer elbow for the 1-2-3.

Winner - Wade Barrett

Match 3

Askana vs Natayla

Typical divas match here with Askana trying as many ways as possible to get away from Natayla even hiding behind the referee and hugging him!! Lots of back and forth action until Natayla is able to lock on the sharpshooter for the win.

Winner - Natayla

Match 4

Kofi Kingston vs The Miz

I found this to be a very interesting match. At first both men were very even in the match and there was a handshake before the match started between Kofi and Miz. Crowd were also really split with lots of loud Miz is awesome chants. However part way through the match as the Miz gets back in the ring as Kofi is sitting on the ropes for him, Miz attacks Kofi leg and crowd start boo-ing. Miz is now working as a bad guy and is taking advantage of the situation and doing everything he can to take out the leg of Kofi. Kofi managed to battle back and win with the trouble in paradise.

Winner - Kofi Kingston

Match 5

6 Man Tag Team Match

Cody, Goldust and Big E Langston vs The Shield

Massive pop from the crowd for Cody, Goldust and Big E. Lots of Goldust chants. Funny moment when The Shield come out to the rig their music is playing but wwe production queued the wrong video and on the screen was The Miz Titantron!! After a short delay the shield come out and all 6 men proceed to have a great tag team match, The shield spent most of the match beating down Goldust and Goldust spent a lot of time trying to make the tag to his corner and eventually he manages to make it and tags in Big E who takes out the shield until the shield get control and all hell breaks loses lots of people hit their finishing moves we get spears, disaster kicks etc then Cody manages to roll up Dean Ambrose for the win. Great match and the crowd were really into this. This match was the match of the night and in my opinion should of been the main event.

Winners - Cody, Goldust and Big E

Intermission

Match 6

Fans Choice Dance off

Santino Marella vs Fandango

Well not much to say here really, best thing was actual seeing Mrs Fandango.......Summer Rae damm that lady is fine. Santino and Fandango have a dance off, Santino wins, Fandango attacks Santino, Santino turns the tables and the dance off is over.

Dance off Winner - Santino Marella

Match 7

Damien Sandow vs Dolph Ziggler

Damien Sandow comes out first and tells the unwashed masses of Wales that although he no longer has his money in the bank briefcase he is still out uncrowned World champion. He tells the crowd that they should feel sorry for Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler comes out and the crowd pop big for Ziggler and see happy to see him. Sandow and Ziggler have a good Match with sandow getting many near falls throughout the match, Ziggler hits the fame asser and gets a 2 count as well. sandow then manages to hit his full Nelson slam for the win.

Winner - Damien Sandow

Match 8

Main Event

WWE Title Match

Big Show vs Randy Orton

Big Show and Orton both get into the ring, after a very long entrance by Randy Orton. As soon as Big Show and Orton are in the ring the crowd are chanting 'we want bryan' Randy Orton has to get on the mic and address the situation, Orton says he put Bryan in a hospital in USA and Bryan won't be here tonight. The crowd aren't happy about this, however the Mach begins. Orton and show have an OK match, but to be honest wasn't the most memorable main event I have seen, although I did enjoy the conclusion to the match Big Show goes to chokeslam Orton and suddenly the lights go out and Kane music hits!!! Kane walks down to the ring this distracts Big Show, Orton turns show around and hits him with the RKO to win the match. Following the match Kane signals to the back and the shield run out and attack big show. big show manages to fend off The Shield and then hits the KO punch on Orton to end the show. Big Show then gets the microphone and thanks the fans for all the support he has received through the years in Cardiff, Big show ends by saying he will tell Daniel Bryan that all the fans in Cardiff wish him well and this ends the show.

Is Time up for Impact Wrestling in 2013?

Is Time up for Impact Wrestling in 2013?

Impact Wrestling Owner Dixie Carter

What Is written below is my own opinion as a wrestling fan. I'm not a Wrestling "expert" and nor do I proclaim to be one, this is my opinion on what I see as a fan so with that said lets take a look at Impact Wrestling is there time up in 2013?

This is my 1st blog after a long time away due to an arm injury I have been unable to write any new blogs, but treatment has worked well so I'm back with a new blog.

Since I been on my blogging hiatus one thing has been bothering me a lot the continued downward trend in Impact Wrestling, the releases that have been made and the continued speculation around the company.

So far this year Impact Wrestling have released:

Alex Silva
Bruce Pritchard (TNA Office Staff)
Christian York
Crimson
Doc
Dvon
Dlo Brown (TNA Office Staff)
Doug Williams
Hulk Hogan
Joey Ryan
Kid Kash
Mickie James
Madison Rayne
Matt Morgan
Taeler Hendrix
So Cal Val
Tara
Jesse Sorenson

It is reported that a Live impact show to broadcast is costing around  $600.000 and the huge financial cost is having and has had a big impact ont he company therefore re-structuring has to take place in order for TNA to be able to balance the books and try and make the business more financially viable to the owners Panda Energy.

Of Course one if not the biggest release on the list above was that of Hulk Hogan. I think TNA had to bring Hulk Hogan in when they did. They had to try and make a move to the next level and signing Hogan was a huge part to try and get TNA to that next level. However 3 years later looking back at it I think I was too much too soon.

Maybe Impact wasn't ready at that time for the transition and their have been many different changes in Direction from being Live on Mondays, to cancelling the experiment going back to being on Thursdays, then changes in Timeslot on a Thursday to then going Live to going Live every other episode, It seems TNA could not pick a business plan and stick to it and now we are bearing the fruit of the indecision and too many changes at TNA in that time.

Impact and TNA kind of reminds me of the original ECW not in terms of the wrestling of style of the organisation but the way the company was handled away from the ring and the business decisions that were made. ECW wasn't ready in hindsight to make the jump to television and the financial were not in place and the correct deals and the right deals done at the right time weren't done.

In Addition some of the recent bizarre direction TNA took with having Rampage and Tito Ortiz on the show and then pulling them off again, the furore around Kurt Angle and his arrest for DUI and Subsequent spell in Rehabilitation and return to TNA. Things In Impact Wrestling have seemed really off the last few months. Then At Bound For Glory there were pictures showing the arena half empty and TNA Officials having to move the crowd round to one end of the building.

For TNA biggest show of the year this isn't a good sign......

TNA Bond for Gory 2013 with the arena half full

I hope for the sake of the wrestling, Wrestling Fans and the industry as a whole that Impact Wrestling doesn't disappear and that it continues and reaches the potential that it should achieve. That the right decisions can be made and that the wrestlers can continue to entertain the fans. Wrestling does not need to go back to one Company 12 years after we were in that position I would hate to see History repeat itself.

The Rock - His recent WWE Wrestlemania Legacy

The Rock - His WWE Wrestlemania Legacy

In my opinion The Rock is a huge superstar. I watched him on TV at home when I was a 10 year old debuting at Madison Square Garden and through the next few years into being The Rock and becoming a global Wrestling  superstar. The Rock transitioned over into acting and films and in my mind  is dominating Hollywood with Hugely successful films such as Fast 6, Snitch, Pain and Gain and GI Joe 2 with more to come in 2013 and beyond.

For example Fast 6 in the United Kingdom where I live Drew  $4.4 million during its opening day  the biggest opening day for both The Fast and the Furious franchise and Universal in that market (source WebCitation.org) The Rock is a huge part of the film and should take a lot of credit on re-energising the franchise.

The Assentation of The Rock as a truly Global Powerhouse is why WWE needed him for Wrestlemania 29 and also the Wrestlemania's that proceeded it. Now the The Rock came in on a part time basis but is now (apart for maybe Hulk Hogan) the most recognisable Wrestler on the face on the planet due to his film work as mentioned above he brings a whole new audience to WWE and he is still a guy that wrestling fans see as larger as life and a true superstar. The Rock is THE Crossover star right now in this world and with that comes alotof responsibility for The Rock but the Rock is now a massive media maget and the definition of a global star.

The Rock Commercial power to WWE was immense. I know people casual fans that brought Wrestlemania based on the fact they had heard that The Rock was WWE champion. When I walked around New York before Wrestlemania through Times square and Surrounding Area there were WWE Wrestlemania banners on street lights and when people looked at the they said "oh that's The Rock" and that's what WWE wanted. If you didn't recognise anyone else on the poster you'd certainly recognise The Rock.

I Myself l the Way from England and Travelled 3500 Miles to be at Wrestlemania 29 to see The Rock as I never had the opportunity or the money before to see him Wrestle there is no way I could of gone through life never seeing The Rock Live in a Wrestling ring. That is what The Rock Does he draws people based on him being The Rock. I wanted to see him based solely on wanting to see one of my idols wrestle.

Greatest day Me at Wrestlemania 29

My Picture of The Rock at Wrestlemania 29
The Rock had a tremendous match with John Cena and did for Cena what Hulk Hogan had done for him and passed the Torch to John Cena to Carry forward that was something that The Rock did not have to do but did as it was the right thing for the Wrestling Business and I don't know this but feel That The Rock wanted to give back to the business that he loves.

The Rock suffered legitimate torn muscles and tendons around his pelvis from the match. I would like to thank him for carrying on in the match even though he must of been in so much pain and carrying on for the entertainment for the fans. Afterwards the stated in Twitter that Wrestlemania 29 could well of been his last match for WWE.  In this interview below after Wrestlemania 29 The Rock talks about Wrestlemania 29 possibly being his last match (interview With Peter Rosenberg)

The Rock Legacy after Wrestlemania is Huge. As You heard in the interview above the Rock talked about himself and Vince Having a 3 year plan for his appearances at Wrestlemania. The Rock also talked about a Match with Brock Lesnar but as of yet says that he is unsure whether that will take place.  Wrestlemania drew a record crowd to Metlife Stadium (with me Included!!) which was 80,676 and  became the second highest attended event in the history of WWE. The event set a new record for the highest grossing live event in WWE history, grossing $67 million (Source WWE.com). I think we could say that without The Rock the last 3 Wrestlemania's would have not been as successful as they were.

To further show how well The Rock is doing right now
he has been announced #25 on Forbes most powerful list and the comment The Rock Gave below is tremendous

"In 1995 I had $7 in 96 I was wrestling in Flea markets for $40 (thank god for waffle house) To #25 on the forbes most powerful, Some of you out there might be going through your $7 in your pocket situation...embrace the grind lower your shoulder and keep driving through that mother fucker change will come"

Randy Orton Legend Killer Years 2002-2005

Randy Orton Legend Killer Years
2002-2005

Randy Orton right now is one of the top wrestlers in WWE. Randy Orton has millions of fans around the world and also has been a star in WWE and been a WWE and World Heavyweight Champion. I'd like to take a look back at some of his career moments that have stood out to me so far and his Ascension to the top of WWE.

The Debut

Randy Arrived in WWE During the Ruthless Aggression Era in WWE and his first match was against Hardcore Holly (Bob Holly) on Smackdown Randy defeated Holly with a roll up pin to secure his first win in WWE See the video below to see Orton in his first appearance in WWE.

Later in 2002 Randy Orton got drafted to WWE Raw Brand then Randy Orton got injured and hurt his arm and shoulder. I remember seeing at the time these Randy News Network promos where Randy Would talk about himself and update everyone on his injury. I loved these as they were new and different and no one had ever done anything like that before and keep Randy in the fans mind and in my mind although he was injured and I think made him a bigger star and was Help Randy build up for his return to the ring. Click on the video below to see the Randy Orton News Update Segment

Evolution

When Orton came back from  his injury he joined Triple H, Ric Flair and Batista in the group Evolution. This was a great move for Randy Orton as he got to work with and learn from Flair and Triple H two if the best in the wrestling business and this helped enhance his character and with no pun intended help evolve Randy Orton

you can see the Debut of the group by clicking on the clip below

As Part of Evolution Randy Orton then started calling himself the Legend Killer
Orton would have matches and call them Legend versus Legend Killer. Randy Orton then defeated RVD Rob Van Dam and won his 1st intercontinental championship - Randy Orton then held the Intercontinental championship for 7 months

Randy Orton lost  it to Edge. You can see Orton Win his first WWE intercontinental Title by watch the video below

Randy Orton had a standout feud during this time  with Mick Foley. Mick and Randy Orton feud was a classic and it started with Randy Throwing Mick down the stairs you can see this below

Foley was afraid to wrestle a match with Intercontinental Champion Randy Orton and walked out of the arena rather than face him. Foley and Orton faced each other in Royal Rumble 2004 and eliminated each other this then led to a match at Wrestlemania 20 with Evolution vs Rock and Mick Foley. See Highlights of this match below.

This then lead to a one on one match between Orton and Foley and what many consider to be the standout match between the two and the match that put Randy Orton on the Map as a main event player and as someone who could be a main eventer in WWE. I remember this match as being so hard hitting and the risks that both men took were incredible. Orton even took a bump into thumbtacks that Foley had placed in the ring Orton went into those tacks with  no tshirt on. Orton Won this match. Watch this match below

Legend Killer Randy Orton faced superstars like Shawn Michaels, Dusty Rhodes, Sgt Slaughter Rob Van Dam,The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan. Below you can see a promo video of Randy Orton Legend Killer list.

Youngest World Heavyweight Champion

Randy Orton Won a Battle Royal to Become Number one contender for the World Championship. Orton Defeated 20 other men the ending of this Battle Royal can be seen below

Orton then faced Chris Beniot and beat Beniot at Summerslam 2004 to become the Youngest World Heavyweight Champion - You can see Randy Win the Title Below.

Following Night Orton then beat Beniot again and following this came the famous scene of Orton on the shoulders of Batista and Triple H giving the Thumbs down which then kicked off the feud between Orton and Triple H for the World Heavyweight Title.

WWE,TNA and Wrestling - It was better when I knew Less

WWE,TNA and Wrestling - It was better when I knew Less

Myself and my brother were talking recently and My brother said that he felt like he enjoyed wrestling more when we knew less about it. I got me thinking about wrestling in the modern era and how much wrestling has changed since I first started watching as a 5 year old child.

It was 1991 I was 5 years old as I said and there is no Internet. We have no SKY TV (pay TV) and we don't even have a video recorder at home at the time. I first managed to see what Wrestling was  by seeing a WWF Wrestling Video at my friends house which introduced me to the awesomeness that is professional wrestling. From that day forward I was hooked on it and have been watching it ever since.

At That Point we could only see wrestling when my friends (or their parents) would buy a new wrestling video. So we weren't exposed to Wrestling much at all and certainly did not know any of the inner workings or what went on backstage.

The First WWF video I Owned

Wrestling was hidden away and the secrets of wrestling weren't exposed so it kept us interested in the matches we were seeing. We didn't already know the results from Tweets or Websites and We would sit and watch through all the shows not skip and matches because we wanted to see what would happen. At the time also whether it was the Wrestlers or the matches themselves they had a way of drawing you in - I don't ever remember wanting to press the fast forward button on a first viewing of a wrestling video.

Every Video we got felt fresh as although some of the events we were watching were a year old or older we had no idea would be champion and the end of the video. We were more pure wrestling fans at that point because I feel that I was able to look at every match and take it on its merits and have the time to be able to absorb it and take it in better. We were able to grow as wrestling fans too - our tastes in who we liked or thought were good change over the years but her changed due to our opinions and thoughts and not by thoughts of others or what "the Internet says"

Thinking about it that was a better time I wasn't impatient and wanting to get through a show as quick as possible, I didn't know all the inner workings, who hates who and why Wrestler A wont work with Wrestler B and WWF (WWE Now) were concentrating on putting on the best wrestling show not the best entertainment show.

I Was Brought Up With Wrestlers like Bret Hart and Mr Perfect

In addition to that we would see one new video whenever we could get one. We weren't over saturated as we are today with Wrestling on nearly every day of the week. I think that actually weakens the product that we now see on TV. If WWE went back to Just Raw once a week for 2 hours Wouldn't life in the modern era be easier as a wrestling fan? WWE these days asks you to spend 3 hours on Raw, 2 Hours on Smackdown, 1 Hour on Main Event, ! Hour on NXT and if a PPV week 3 Hours on that.

You could end up watching 9 hours of wrestling a week now!!!

Knowing less Really gave me more, now in this society we live in everything has to be instant and everything in wrestling has to catch the fans attention and not let them change the channel. Everything Evolves and Everything Changes but sometimes not all evolution is great for me less is really more.

Mick Foley Comedy Show Review Bath 2013

Mick Foley Comedy Show Review
Bath 2013

Me and Mick Foley in Bath

I brought my ticket for Mick Foley Comedy Show in Bath Months ago. I made sure I got a meet and greet ticket as I had gone to see Mick in Cardiff in 2012 and wanted to make sure I could meet him again.

I arrived at the Komedia in Bath and the fans were queued up ready to get into the show. It was a very long line as I found out on the day that she show was sold out. That's a great achievement considering this was the first time for Mick in Bath shows that the advertising and promotion for his shows is spot on and he manages to reach the fans.

I get into the building and I am on the bottom floor as I have a meet and great and priority seating ticket. Luckily a friends of mine @kitchkov saved me a seat where he was sitting so was able to sit 4 rows back and enjoy the show.

I get some drinks and we are awaiting the start of the show. First of all the comedian supporting Mick on his tour comes out he is a comic from Leicester called Jim Smallman. Id never seen Jim before so was interested to see what he was going to come up with. Jim was fantastic and a perfect choice to support Mick. Jim Smallman is a professional comedian who is a huge wrestling fan (he has a tattoo of Mick Foley on his arm) and also Jim co Owns a wrestling promotion called Progress Wrestling. So Jim was bang on to start the show and got me laughing a lot before Mick Came on.

I found a video of Jim on Youtube click the video below to see Jim at work in Edinburgh Last year (the opening Joke is the same one we heard in bath) also visit Jim website http://jimsmallman.com/

Mick Foley then came on to the stage and gave us 1 Hour to 1 Hour 20 minutes of laughter. Mick was tremendous and even better than when I saw him previously in Cardiff. Mick talked about the WWE hall of Fame and his story with Chris Jericho and Cm Punk and the elbow heard around the world. Mick said at the beginning of the show also that he wanted all fans to enjoy the show and you could hear everyone laughing I didn't hear one person at the end of the show complaining that they didn't enjoy themselves or have a great time

I wont ruin all the jokes for you - however Mick Does a joke about Hulk Hogan to which I was laughing so hard I nearly cried!! Also an extremely great joke about a man "Working Hurt" - Mick was comedy Gold and just keeps getting better and better. If haven't managed to see a Mick Foley comedy show yet I suggest you do whether you are a wrestling fan or not there is something here for all tastes. I hope there is a DVD coming out of his show because I'll certainly be buying it if it does.

There was a meet and greet after the show and due to the show being a sell out there were lots of fans waiting to meet Mick. I did take an hour to meet Mick however I feel that this was just due to sheer number of people. Mick had so many people to meet and after being on the road for so many days and doing so many shows I was very appreciative that at 11am at night Mick was willing to meet me, First bump (Mick says its easier than a handshake), take the time to talk to me and sign my WWE hall of Fame Program and also my WWE hall of fame ticket. Got to speak to Mick about my experience at the hall of fame and seeing him inducted as always Mick was a true gentleman and was great to talk too. I then had to run out the door and get my train home!! (which I did get in time!!)

Thank you Mick and if your back in  England Next year I'll be back to see another show

My Memories Scott Hall WWF years 1992-1996

My Memories Scott Hall WWF years 1992-1996

In 1992 I was 6 years old. I didn't have much access to SKY television here in |England UK and I would go over my friend's houses to watch wrestling and see it on Sky as we didn't have Sky at my home at the time and without Seeing Sky you would not see wrestling as WCW used to be on ITV but had stopped at this point.

I don't ever remember seeing The Diamond Studd or Diamond Dallas page before I saw the Razor Ramon Character so being from England I always thought he was Razor Ramon from the off. It wasn't until I got older and was reading and old school WCW album (before the Internet!!!) that I realised he was the Diamond Stud!!

Below Is a video collection of Razor |Ramon 1st Vignette's for WWF

I didn't see Razor Ramon on his debut however I remember seeing Razor Ramon with Ric Flair and doing an interview with Ric Flair for Survivor Series 1992 here is one of the promos from that time that I managed to find on youtube click the link below to see a video promo by Razor Ramon, Ric Flair and Mr Perfect.

I liked Razor Ramon from the first time I saw him. He was the first real bad guy that I liked. Think his character was brilliant and I think that his way of talking to the audience was unique and something that had not been done at that point. Razor spoke differently, with an accent and spoke slowly as well which made you wait for the end of every sentence. In addition to that had a great look, wearing lots of gold and a great jacket with his name emblazoned on the back of it.

The Razor character was so awesome that he was only 1 of 2 WWF hasbro Wrestling figures which I ever brought new!! I saved up my money and managed to buy the figure! It was brilliant used it so much - there is so much wear and tear on it now but shows how much I would use the figure!!!

Razor Ramon and Ric Flair lost Via DQ to Macho Man and Mr perfect at Survivor Series then following this Razor Ramon went on to face Bret Hart at Royal Rumble 1993 in the main event Razor was featured on the WWE Royal Rumble Poster and on the VHS Cover too.

The Match Between Bret Hart and Razor Ramon ended with Bret Hart Defeating Razor by making Razor Submit to the Sharpshooter you can see the video below

My Next big memory of Razor Ramon and its one that sticks in my mind more than others and that was Razor Ramon at Wrestlemania 9. Wrestlemania 9 was the first video I brought and I remember seeing Razor Ramon vs Bob Backlund at the PPV and at the time as that was the only wrestling video I owned i watched the Video alot!! Here's the match between Razor and Bob Backlund Below

Following his match up with Backlund later on in the year on Monday Night Raw Razor Ramon faced 123 Kid and in one of the most amazing things id seen at that time the 123 kid beat Razor Ramon with a moonsault off the top rope. I could believe that Razor Lost and this new wrestler but it was an excited moment and something that is now always remembered for being the first angle on Raw and also one of the most shocking moments check it out here

Razor and 123 Kid then got into a program together and faced each other following this Razor Ramon also faced the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase in his last match in WWE and Pinned Him after the Razors Edge at Summerslam.

On Raw After a Battle Royal the week before Razor Ramon faced Rick Martel after Shawn Michaels was suspended for the vacant WWE intercontinental championship Razor Beat Martel to Win the Intercontinental Title. Following this Shawn Michaels returned with his Intercontinental title and then what ensued next was probably the best feud that the Intercontinental title had ever seen Razor Ramon vs Shawn Michaels. Shawn Michaels insisted that he had never lost the title and that Razor was not the real Intercontinental champion.

This lead to one of the greatest matches in WWE History with both titles hoisted above the ring Razor Ramon vs Shawn Michaels in a ladder match for the Intercontiential championship. One thing that bothers me alot is that in the DVDs that WWE have done there has never been enough credit given I feel to Razor and what he contributed to the match. It takes two great Wrestlers to make a match everyone talks about Shawn Michaels Contribution but WWE seem to ignore Razor Ramon Contribution. Razor and Shawn both deserve credit for making a classic which was standard alot of matches were measured against int he years to come. The match had a big influence on me I remember being amazed seeing this on TV or VHS never seen a ladder match before this and they gave me a great wrestling memory!! Check out the Wrestlemania 10 Ladder match Highlights below

Later on Razor Ramon lost the Intercontinental Title to Diesel and then at Summerslam 1994 Ramon beat Diesel to win back the WWE Intercontiential title.

This is where its gets hazy for me and the next match that I remember At the 1995 Royal Rumble Jeff Jarrett beat Razor Ramon. Razor lost the Intercontinental Championship to Jarrett and I remember being really annoyed as The match was restarted then Jarrett won it as a kid I hated Jeff Jarrett!!!!

Razor Ramon then went against Jeff Jarrett again for the  Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania XI, but only won this match via DQ so Razor did not win the title.

What I remember next is Summerslam 1995  and a rematch between Shawn  Michaels and Razor for the Intercontinental title. Shawn Michaels won this match . Not knowing it at the time but finding this out recently through watching a Kevin Nash interview he said that Shawn and Razor were told that they could not use the ladder as a weapon - so they went and had a great match even with restrictions apon them. I never got to see this match Live and as it aired as we weren't able to see it so took meanwhile to see this later on as a kid (on Youtube back then!!!) but was worth waiting for. Check  out the video below

After this I remember Razor Ramon vs Dean Douglas at In Your House 4 and Razor Beating Douglas for the intercontinental title See the video below

Also In 1995 and in  a match I remember alot 1995 survivor Series there was a Wildcard Match and Gorilla Moonson picked the teams of mixed faces and heels and the teams Were Shawn Michaels, Ahmed Johnson, British Bulldog and Sid vs Razor Ramon, Dean Douglas, Yokozuna and Owen Hart. I loved this match because I was different and unique and I haven't seen anything like this before. See the match below

This was the last big match I remember for Razor Ramon before he left for WCW in 1996. I never knew this at the time but Before he left HHH,Razor, Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash all said goodbye together in the ring at Madison Square Garden. Alot of people didn't like this however looking back on it I think this started the change into a new era of Wrestling and don't think that the MSG incident caused any harm to WWF it was simply best friends saying goodbye.

I have also written two Kevn Nash Blogs you can read them here
